What attracted me to the McCombs School of the Business...

Maria Gomez
Class of 2003

I was attracted to the McCombs School of Business because of its membership in the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. I am a Consortium fellow, and I have enjoyed the opportunities it has afforded me.

I also thought the school offered top-quality specialization programs specifically in the areas of information management and entrepreneurship.

The diversity of student body was attractive to me. About 40% of the MBA students are international. There are people here from many different countries and areas of the world.

Austin was also a factor in my decision to come to Texas. The city is a great location to pursue an MBA. Austin is a young and diverse city with lots to do. Its casual environment provides a perfect setting to balance the fast pace environment of the MBA program.

Juan Carlos Loredo
Class of 2003

My initial attraction to the McCombs School was based on the reputation of the Marketing department. The faculty is accomplished and well reputed, and the department is innovative and well developed.

I am also a Consortium fellow, which definitely was a deciding factor in my decision about b-school. The McCombs School’s participation in the Consortium is important to me. It demonstrates an interest and respect for me and my needs and concerns as an Hispanic MBA student.

I was so excited about Austin and the local community. I enjoy being outdoors-water-skiing, hiking, biking-in the local community. This city is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.

There is opportunity to make a difference within the community at McCombs. I have devoted myself to helping increase the diversity of the program. I think it is easier to accomplish goals like that because of the teamwork attitude of the entire McCombs Community. The students are constantly working together with their fellow students, the faculty and the staff to find ways to improve and enhance the program. We are in regular contact with alumni of the program, and in my experience, Texas MBAs have a strong sense of loyalty to the program and its mission.
