Dallas

Welcome to the Dallas MMA Network Chapter!

Parrino We have more than 2,300 members in the Dallas area. Our chapter is comprised of a diverse group of alumni across all functions, such as private equity, real estate development, IT consulting and manufacturing. Our members span many decades—even as far back as 1927! And more and more, we are
welcoming new alumni from the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) MBA program.

Our 2007 calendar of events was built on the success of our programming from the previous two years. We kicked off the year at the Winter Reception by recognizing the service and accomplishments of Alan Stein, MBA ’95, previous president of the DFW Chapter. We’ve had great turnouts at the Faculty Speaker Series (featuring Bill Cunningham) and the Summer Reception.

And if it weren’t for a tiny, $45 billion acquisition deal, we would have had record turnout for our Executive Speaker Series with now-former TXU CEO John Wilder, MBA ’74. Unfortunately, we had to postpone that event due to timing of the acquisition. However, we look forward to featuring Mr. Wilder as a speaker in the near future!

In 2008, we’ll continue to offer events that are as interesting as they are fun. We’ll kick off the new year by honoring a local alumnus who has made a huge impact on the development of the DFW MBA program. And in March, we will host the 3rd Annual Faculty Speaker Series with Orlando Kelm, associate professor of marketing and associate director of the Center for International Business Education and Research, who will speak about negotiating in the global business arena.

Our key goals are to increase member participation and turnout, enhance the faculty/executive speaker series, increase the number of informal networking events and continue to partner with McCombs student organizations.

Additionally, we’ll continue our collaboration with the Dallas Business Club, a consortium of more than 10 top-tier business school alumni organizations, to provide additional professional development and networking opportunities for McCombs alumni in the Dallas area.

We couldn’t have done it all without the dedicated alumni volunteers and active members who attend the events, as well as the corporations that provide sponsorship assistance and, of course, the MBA Alumni Relations Office.

We’re thrilled about the upcoming events and encourage everyone to get involved. If you have not been receiving our chapter e-mails and would like to be updated on what we are doing or how you can help us achieve our goals, please contact me directly at marissa.henderson@mba04.mccombs.utexas.edu.
