McCOMBS @ CITI NETWORK LAUNCHED

McCombs@Citi, a network of McCombs alumni working at Citi, was launched in New York Nov. 18, 2007 with the support of Citi Campus Relations and McCombs Alumni Relations. Modeled after similar groups at Dell and Microsoft, this network will serve as a networking and career resource for McCombs alumni throughout Citi and will continue to cultivate the relationship between Citi and the McCombs School.

Phil Bienert, MBA ’96 and senior vice president for customer experience at Citi Cards, kicked off the evening by welcoming attendees and outlining the network’s objectives and future plans. Bienert will serve as executive sponsor of the McCombs@Citi Network. Dean George Gau gave a detailed talk about the current happenings at the school, which was followed by a lively Q&A session.

The network will not only provide a platform for McCombs alumni to interact but it will also act as a resource for McCombs students considering job offers with Citi. Members may share job postings, explain various businesses across Citi and serve as a link between Citi and the McCombs School. The network, with representation from a majority of the businesses across Citi, will also champion McCombs and its students and graduates throughout the company.

In late January 2008, the network hosted a conference call with Matt Jenkins, executive vice president of Citi Cards, and McCombs alumni to talk about his career and secrets to success. Other upcoming network activities include a brown bag lunch social, after-work happy hour (also known as “Think & Drink”), speed networking and talks by visiting McCombs professors.

While the majority of events are currently planned for New York, the network will hold events via conference calls so that alumni in other locations may participate. The network will expand activities to other locations in the near future.

We sincerely thank Carolyn Miles, Jennie Loev and their team members from McCombs, as well as Debbie Bertan from Citi Campus Relations, for their support to make this network a reality.
