a letter from the director
Dear MBA Alumni,
Welcome to the fifth edition of Exchange, the annual MBA alumni magazine
distributed to alumni worldwide.
The 11th year of the McCombs MBA Alumni (MMA) Network was one of growth:
Eight new chapters were formed, bringing the total to 35 MMA Network Chapters
worldwide (see maps on page 20). These new chapters can be found as close to
Austin as Fort Worth and as far away as Singapore. To see if there is a chapter
in your area, go to: http://mba.mccombs.utexas.edu/mma/network/chapter.asp. If there
is not a chapter in your area and you would like to take the lead as chapter
president, contact
Robin.Vallilee@mccombs.utexas.edu.
The second annual MBA Alumni Business Conference sold out, with 100 alumni in
attendance.
The Mentorship Program matched alumni mentors with student organizations and
allowed students to select their mentors by searching by their preferred
criteria.
In the coming year, we will focus on the following initiatives:
Outreach to our pre-cohort, pre-1995 graduates, also known as Experienced
Alumni. This year, in conjunction with our MBA Alumni Business Conference, we
will be adding an Experienced Alumni Reunion (see page 16). This will be our
first event of this magnitude that brings together graduates from as early as
1952 and as recently as 1994.
Increased engagement with alumni from McCombs’ six MBA programs, including
increased participation on the MBA Alumni Advisory Board.
I feel honored to have the opportunity to make a difference that directly
impacts the future of our alumni network. One of my favorite things about this
position is that I see many of you all over the country and the world during my
travels to alumni events. In addition, I have the opportunity to work with many
of you as you give back to McCombs as alumni leaders, recruiters and admissions
representatives.
You are part of an incredible network of intelligent and ambitious alumni. I
encourage you to take advantage of the prestigious group you joined when you
chose McCombs for your graduate degree. The first step is to help us locate you.
Please see the sidebar on page 3 to learn about how you can update your
information in the alumni directory.
