a letter from the chair
“Become the best public business school in the country.”
This is the school’s stated goal, and the administration’s strategic plan has
put us on track to achieve that goal.
Our alumni are a big part of that effort. We have an extremely engaged alumni
population, with 35 active chapters and numerous programs led or supported by
alumni, such as admissions interviews, the Mentorship Program, the MBA Alumni
Endowed Excellence Fund and the MBA Alumni Awards Celebration.
What do all of these programs have in common, other than the positive impact
they have on the school (and indirectly, the rankings)? They were all started by
our own alumni leaders—chapter presidents, class presidents and members of our
MMA Advisory Board. These alumni all devote their time and energy to help make
the school and the alumni network better.
I’d like to personally thank all alumni volunteers—past, present and future—for
advancing our alumni network and our school toward a higher national profile.
Although we have many active and involved alumni, there are still a lot of
opportunities to contribute:
Chapter leadership. We are always looking for additional people to help with
chapter leadership. This is a critical function, because our chapters are “where
the rubber meets the road” in our alumni efforts.
Class leadership. We have many classes prior to 1995 without class presidents.
We are in the process of revamping our class representation program, so it’s a
great time to take a leadership role with your class.
Board membership. The network is seeking active, involved board members to help
drive strategic alumni initiatives and provide guidance to the school on
critical issues and programs.
Board committees. We have six Advisory Board Committees (see page 17) that
enhance alumni offerings to strengthen the MMA Network. These committees are in
need of more alumni to help with their initiatives.
If you’d like to join the alumni working to make the business school the leader
among its public university counterparts, please contact Jennie Loev or me. It’s
a great opportunity to make an impact and help increase the value of your MBA at
the same time.
Sincerely,
Dave Hendrix, MBA ’97
