Barbara Miller

Barbara B. Miller has helped countless prominent business leaders learn to communicate effectively. She has guided many of the country's most prominent law firms into global arenas. And she has coached ordinary people to become extraordinarily comfortable and adept in all manners of oral communication. Barbara's consulting practice includes courses in Technical and Business Presentations, Media Interviews, Communication Skills (for improved staff/client relations) and Client Relationship Development (for sales teams). 

 

 

 

 

 

Experience

Barbara B. Miller has served over 200 organizations and thousands of people as a training, coaching, and speaking consultant in communication improvement. Her experience and expertise in giving speeches, stage performing, and producing/hosting a TV talk show make her unique in the communication training field.  

  • For four years, Barbara produced and co-hosted a daily TV talk show where she interviewed 2500 people. This led to work with the Texas Bar Association in Media Interview training for the Board of Directors and local bar presidents. 
  • She has trained dozens of law firms and thousands of lawyers, bankers, and technical leaders 
    • to be interviewed for nationally broadcast interviews and periodicals, 
    • in communication improvement in the courtroom, 
    • in business development competitions, and 
    • in partner/associate/staff relations. 
  • She worked in France preparing teams to make presentations to American audiences and in England preparing solicitors and barristers for legal issue seminars and business development presentations. 
  • Working in association with public relations strategists, Barbara has assisted organizations in national press conferences, worldwide product announcements, business development competitions and legal issues seminars. 
  • She has served as a communication consultant to the National Institute of Trial Advocacy at the SMU Law School and has presented several CLE programs for the South Texas College of Law, including: "Application of Communication Principles to the Practice of Law" and "Marketing Communications for Women in Law." 
  • She has traveled nationally for the National Practice Institute teaching courtroom persuasion and communication skills in a course called "Getting the Jury to Agree." 

Distinctions

Since 1981, Barbara has served on the seminar faculty of Leadership Texas, a program of the Foundation of Women's Resources, teaching leadership and communication to emerging leaders in the public and private sector. She is a member of the Leadership Texas Class of 1999. In 1995, she was a featured speaker in Atlanta at the Southern Women Elected Officials Conference and she has trained many top elected officials and aspiring candidates in Texas. In April 2000 and 2002, she moderated a global satellite seminar, women.future, featuring international business owners and consultants. 

Additionally, she is a member of the Legal Marketing Association, a certified mediator, and has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Corporate Speakers Activities. 

Barbara is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio with a degree in Speech and Theatre.
