Academic Advising
As a Texas MBA student, you will benefit from a vast and academically challenging curriculum. Academic advisors provide valuable support and guidance as you navigate this curriculum. In addition to any mandatory advisor meetings, you are encouraged to initiate contact with your advisor when anything occurs which potentially compromises your ability to succeed in the MBA Program.
Academic Advisors responsibilities include:
- providing current academic information
- assisting with the selection of courses consistent with students’ interests and proficiency
- providing information regarding alternatives, limitations, and possible consequences of academic decisions
- referring students to faculty and campus resources to meet their needs
- reviewing progress toward degree, which includes certifying students for graduation
Reasons to visit the MBA Program Office include:
- obtaining help with academic problems and related issues
- dropping, adding, withdrawing from a course
- registering for more than 15 hours in a long semester, more than 12 in summer
- applying for late registration
- submitting appeals and petitions
- letters of student status
- letters for Curricular Practical Training – CPT, and Optional Practical Training - OPT (international students)
- letters requested by university departments (VA, married student housing, etc.)
- receiving information about MBA program scholarships
- filing for graduation
- withdrawing from school
