Track Application Status
All applications to the Texas MBA program undergo a two-part process. The Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) handles the initial processing, and the Texas MBA Admissions Committee conducts the application review and administers a decision.
GIAC:
GIAC is the main admissions office for graduate studies for UT-Austin. They primarily ensure that each application is complete and meets our graduate eligibility requirements. GIAC does not make admission decisions for the MBA program.
*Submission & Data Entry: It can take 2 - 4 weeks for an application to go through the initial data entry process at GIAC. If something is missing, it could take longer.
*Online Status Check: The online status check will not show all items received until the end of the file’s data entry. It is perfectly normal for some materials to show up as “needed” while other items (even those included in the same packet) are recorded as “received.”
*Please do not e-mail us about any items missing - marked as “needed” - until a month has passed from your date of submission.
*Degree Evaluation: It can take GIAC up to 3 - 4 weeks after the file is complete to perform degree evaluations (transcript verification, eligibility to pursue graduate studies, GPA calculation).
*“Application Forwarded to Graduate Dept.”: This message indicates that your application has been forwarded to the Texas MBA Admission Committee.
Admissions Committee:
The Admission Committee will typically begin their review in early November and will begin to make decisions toward the beginning of December. Decisions are usually made within 3 - 5 weeks after the application has been forwarded from GIAC, and the status check site will indicate when a decision has been made.
All applicants will be notified of decisions by mail and through the status check site. In addition, the Admissions Committee contacts almost all domestic admits by phone and international admits by e-mail.
