For Distinction in the Study of Business Management
The Kiplinger Foundation is pleased to donate $5,000 to the College and Graduate School of Business for the purpose of giving a cash award in this amount - The Kiplinger Prize--to a rising second-year MBA candidate, in recognition of outstanding achievement during the first year of study.
It is our intent that this grant will be made annually to the University of Texas Foundation for the next three years, at which time the opportunity for renewal will be evaluated.
The criteria for selecting The Kiplinger Prize winner, described below, are determined by The Kiplinger Foundation, but the College and McCombs School of Business will make the selection of the student who will receive the Prize. The College and McCombs School of Business may determine if the recipient will be selected through an application process or through nomination by the faculty and administration.
Qualifications and Criteria
- The Prize is to be given to a student upon completion of his/her first year in the MBA program.
- The Prize is to be based entirely on merit, without regard to financial need. If the Prize winner is a financial aid recipient, the school 's Financial Aid Office will work with the student to administer the Prize following University and Federal guidelines.
- The recipient will have achieved a minimum 3.5 GPA.
- The recipient will be a U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident.
- The recipient will have demonstrated academic excellence in the study of business management coupled with demonstrated or potential qualities of leadership.
- There are no restrictions on how the recipient may use the proceeds of The
Kiplinger Prize.
The College and McCombs School of Business will notify The Kiplinger Foundation of the name and address of the recipient. - The Kiplinger Prize recipient will be recognized with, in addition to the $5,000 award, a certificate and congratulatory letter from The Kiplinger Foundation.
- The College and McCombs School of Business will award The Kiplinger Prize each year in an appropriate public forum, such as a graduation ceremony, annual awards dinner or similar event. It may, at its discretion, list the Prize in its catalog and other publications of the school, as well as publicize the winner.
