Professor Orlando Kelm "What International Executives Think About Working with North Americans" When: Thursday, February 7, 2008 5:30 PM Where: Bowdoin Place Fourth Floor Library 10 Bowdoin Street, Boston Click Here to Register In looking at the cultural factors that affect international business, we asked professionals from other countries what they do differently when they know they will be negotiating and working with North Americans. Whether their stereotypes are legitimate or not, their opinions show some of the ideas that are commonly held about North Americans. This session is built on online video taped interviews with these executives, including professionals from Latin America, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Japan, China, and Turkey. Background: Associate Director of Business Language Education at UT’s Center for International Business Education and Research. Author of Brazilians Working with Americans, 2007 UT Press, which relates stories from Brazilian executives about some of the cultural problems they have encountered in working with North Americans. out a link to RSVP. Sandy Leeds, What Happened to the Markets? Senior Lecturer, Department of Finance President, The MBA Investment Fund, LLC After several years of a bull market supported by a strong housing market and a vibrant LBO market, investors started to revolt in the summer of 2007. In this presentation, Professor Leeds will discuss the circumstances and events which led up to the problems in the debt market (and stock market) as well as the problems that were caused by this disruption.
