a letter from the director
Dear MBA Alumni,
Greetings and welcome to the fourth edition of McCombs
Exchange, the magazine distributed to more than 15,000
McCombs MBA alumni worldwide.
Since assuming my position at McCombs in June 2005, I have
had the pleasure of meeting many outstanding alumni. I have
been impressed not only by our collective alumni success,
but also by the dedication and passion you have for
fostering the legacy of our McCombs MBA degree. This
enthusiasm for McCombs, combined with support from Dean Gau,
has enabled the McCombs MBA Alumni (MMA) Office to grow and
create new alumni offerings.
I am delighted to share the new initiatives that have been
implemented with the help of dedicated alumni volunteers:
Alumni Awards Celebration: We partner with the MMA Advisory
Board Alumni Recognition Committee and the Graduate Business
Council to bring alumni and current students together to
honor and recognize the success of our graduates during this
signature annual event.
Alumni Business Conference: Alumni attend this annual event
to learn from renowned McCombs faculty who share the latest
research on important business issues.
Faculty Speaker Series: Through this new program, faculty
travel to alumni chapters to discuss current business trends
and topics. It is a great opportunity to learn from the
latest research, gain faculty perspectives, network with
alumni and stay connected to McCombs.
Leave A Legacy V/X (LAL V/X): Created by alumni leaders from
the classes of 1996 and 2001, the LAL V/X Campaign was
established to continue the Leave A Legacy tradition of the
graduating class (launched in 1996 by Jason Watkins). This
campaign provided funds for the MBA Alumni Endowed
Excellence Fund.
MBA Alumni Endowed Excellence Fund (MAEEF) Awards: MAEEF
provides resources to support new or existing student
initiatives that have a broad and lasting positive impact
for MBA students.
Mentorship Program: This new initiative provides an avenue
for alumni and students to build dynamic relationships that
will benefit them professionally and personally.
There are innumerable opportunities for you to foster the
legacy of your McCombs MBA degree. The first step is to
ensure that we have your contact information in the alumni
directory. Visit http://mba.mccombs.utexas.edu/mma/ to view
