Accessing Course Waitlist

The MBA Waitlists are located on the McCombs On-Line Resources web site. 

1. To access the site please use a current version of Internet Explorer as your browser.
    
   
2. Login using your UTEID. You must be currently enrolled to access the waitlists.
    
   
3. After you login, the "Welcome Your Name" screen will appear.
    
   
4. You will see these links on the menu:

5. Click on "Waitlist Menu". Depending on the date and time, you will see some of the following menu items:
   Global Courses Waitlists
   No Waitlists Active at this Time
   Phase I (Non-time Sensitive) Waitlists 
   Phase II (Time Sensitive) Waitlists 
   View Your Waitlist Selections
   View All Waitlist Selections
   
    

Waitlist Procedures

Summer Waitlists

Summer Waitlists will be active from 12 noon, Wednesday, April 16 through 12 noon, Friday, April 18. You can waitlist for up to three summer classes. The Summer Waitlist is not time sensitive. You must register for Summer Waitlists and Fall Waitlists separately.

Phase I Waitlist

The Fall Phase I Waitlist will be activated the second week of registration, April 21, 12 noon. The Fall Phase I Waitlist will close Tuesday, April 22, 12 noon. When a class fills to the closing limit, a waitlist will be created for the class. You may add yourself to a maximum of three Waitlists.

Phase I is not time sensitive. When Phase I closes, 12 noon, Tuesday, April 22, the names are randomized and you are given a lottery assignment. Your place on a Phase I Waitlist is decided by your lottery assignment. The lottery assignments will be posted the afternoon of Tuesday, April 22.

You can remove yourself from any Phase I Waitlist. If you decide that you do not want one of your Waitlisted classes, please remove your name from the list so that others will have the opportunity to register for the class.

Phase II Waitlists

The Phase II Waitlist opens at noon on the first day of classes, Wednesday, August 27.  You may add your name to a maximum of three Phase II Waitlists, even if you are already on three Phase I Waitlists. This phase is first come, first served.  Your name will be added to the bottom of the existing Phase One Waitlists.  

Responding to a Waitlist E-mail

If your name appears at the top of the Waitlist for an open seat in a particular course, you will receive an e-mail from "MBA Advising".  These e-mails are sent each day.  You MUST respond to that e-mail notice by noon the following business day, if you want the seat.  For example, if you receive an e-mail on Tuesday at 4:00 pm, you must respond by 12 noon on Wednesday to secure your seat in the course.

When you respond to a Waitlist e-mail, please give an accurate unique number for the class you wish to drop.  Also, double check that the added class will not have a time conflict with another class on your schedule.  Errors such as these may result in failure to obtain a seat in the desired class.

Registration is a multi-step process. In an effort to get your class schedule settled as soon as possible, the Program Office may be sending out Phase I Waitlist e-mails before the start of classes. Please check your UT MBA e-mail account each business day, especially during the summer months and over the winter break, to make sure you do not overlook a Waitlist e-mail.

Special Notes

1. Waitlists for accounting classes are handled by the MPA Program Advisors.
2. You may add classes that do not have waitlists during your registration period.
3. Faculty give preference to students on the Waitlist who are actively interested in the class.  Many MBA faculty will not allow students to add a class if they have not been attending and adding value.  Receiving a Waitlist e-mail does not guarantee you a seat in a class you have not been attending. You need to attend every class meeting even if you are not currently registered for the class.

To view your Waitlist selections:

• Click on "Waitlist Menu"

• Click on "View Your Waitlist Selections"

• Up to three regular waitlist selections will be displayed.

To view all Waitlist selections:

• Click on "View All Waitlists"

• Click on the department offering the course

• All the MBA classes (with Waitlists) offered by that department will be displayed.
