Financial aid for domestic students is available in the form of loans and grants to assist you with your educational expenses. The first step in applying for federal aid is to complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year. This application may be completed online via www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as January 1. The deadline to complete your FAFSA is June 1 ; however, the priority deadline is March 31.
Graduate students may borrow a maximum of $20,500 in Federal Stafford loans per year (of which up to $8,500 may be subsidized, which means the interest is paid for you during school and during your six month grace period). Upon credit check approval, you may be eligible to borrow the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan to cover the remaining costs within your cost of attendance/budget (minus other loans and financial aid).
International students interested in student loans may contact the MBA Program Office in-house Financial Aid Officer for more information at phone number 512.471.7698 or by e-mail at FinancialAid@mccombs.utexas.edu.
Once your financial aid award package (also known as EFAN -- Electronic Financial Aid Notification) is ready for your review, you will receive an email directing you to check your aid status via http://finaid.utexas.edu/ . Once that happens, you will be able to login to accept/decline your award, reduce loan amounts and report any necessary changes. You will also be prompted to select a lender for your loans and complete the necessary promissory notes.
