May I bring my spouse/significant other and/or children?
Bring the entire family! Some events are exclusively for admitted students only. However, evening events are open to the entire family. Additionally, the Spouse and Significant Other Network will have a number of activities planned for your spouse/significant other. If you or one of your family members needs special attention, please contact us at preview@mccombs.utexas.edu.
Is dress for Preview Weekend casual?
We would not have it any other way! Austin weather is usually warm. Several events will be on or around water, so a light jacket is recommended.
How much should I budget for Preview Weekend?
You will be responsible for personal expenses not included in
sanctioned Preview Weekend events. You will find that expenses in Austin
are typical of most cities (outside of The Northeast and some of
Southern California). Other than nights on the town and other activities
you might choose to attend during Friday and Saturday free time, Preview
will pick up the tab.
Is the University of Texas close to
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport?
The airport is approximately 10 miles from campus - a 25 minute drive
or $22 cab ride.
Must I rent a vehicle?
Shuttle bus service will be provided for some Preview Weekend events taking place off campus, but is limited to pick up points at the Sheraton Hotel and at the McCombs School of Business. Transportation to on campus events will not be provided. Therefore, we recommend that you rent a vehicle during your visit to the Austin area or be prepared to use a taxi.
How do I get to downtown hotels and the UT
campus?
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is about 10 miles east of
Austin. Here are two ways to get to downtown/UT campus:
- Take Hwy 71 West (turns into Ben White Blvd.) all the way to I-35. Take I-35 north to get to downtown hotels. Exit Martin Luther King (19th Street) to get to the UT campus.
- Take Hwy 71 West to Hwy 183. Take Hwy 183 north and exit at 1st - 5th Street/Airport Blvd (this road veers off from the left lane of Hwy 183). Now you are on Airport Blvd and can exit at the 1st - 5th streets to go to downtown hotels or Martin Luther King (19th Street) to get to the UT campus.
Where do I park on campus?
Parking is $8 per day in the
Brazos Garage parking structure, which is the closest to the McCombs
School of Business. To get to this parking structure, going east from
I-35 on Martin Luther King Blvd., go right on Brazos St. The parking
garage is the first building on the right. Once on foot, head north out
of the parking garage and then take your first left to go east passing
between the Blanton Museum of Art on your left and Jester Towers on your
right. Take your first right at Speedway Ave. and go one block to
21st St. The McCombs School of Business is on the northwest corner. You
