The McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, in
partnership with the Aetna School of Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong
University, offers US and Chinese based companies MBA consulting teams to
conduct research and identify opportunities and challenges of marketing
products or services between the two countries.
UT-Austin and Chinese MBA students will jointly work on these projects,
which can include investment analysis, market analysis, market
segmentation, distribution channel analysis, competitor analysis, best-
practice pricing, packaging or positioning strategies, human resources
management, supply chain or procurement, or US-China office collaboration.
This practicum offers students a global business learning experience
focusing on international business challenges.
For the fifth year, we are including this practicum exposing our US students to
doing business in China, and our Chinese students to doing business in the
United States.
Program's Objective
The program's objective is to give US and Chinese MBAs a practical
international business experience and to deliver a meaningful product to
project sponsors.
This global program includes three components:
(1) six preparatory
lectures on the
cultural, socio-economic
and political backdrop
of doing business in
China and several
post-trip seminars
(2) a 16-day trip to
China from March 2-17,
2007
(3) consulting projects
for a private or public
corporation doing
business or wanting to
do business in China
We intend to collaborate in the projects with student teams from the
Shanghai Jiao Tong University Aetna School of Management. The students
will not only work from their respective campuses during the semester, they
will also work on these projects while in Shanghai. And, they will deliver to you
a final presentation and the final report.
